DIY Lemon Peppermint Hand Scrub

Homemade gifts have become very popular this year.  So to close the year dazzle your friends with a quick and crafty jar of Hand Scrub.  I found this whole idea very versatile, you can jazz it up with cool labels and containers to even adding seasonal sent/flavors.  So the recipe that I created  is pretty basic, I just added the last three ingredients for my own special touch.!

Lemon Peppermint Hand Scrub
-1/4 cup Salt
-1/4 cup Olive Oil
-1/2 tsp. Lemon Juice
-Zest of a Wedge of Lemon
-2 drops Peppermint

1.Add all the dry ingredients together in a glass bowl
2.Add the wet ingredients and mix
3.Viola!!

Just for a couple of TIPS:
So when making this you my need to twik the recipe a little.  You don't want the final product to run through your hands nor do you want it to be rock hard.  Also to me the smell of the olive oil was a little over powering so I added a little more lemon and peppermint.

So share the love and leave a comment or recommend.  I would love to here what DIY Hand Scrubs you have done.!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! I wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and that all is well.  When most people think about Thanksgiving they date back to the colonial times when the Plymouth colonist and Indians shared a large feast together.  Which we call the first Thanksgiving.  Following that years later President Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday to be celebrated every November.

Though when I think of Thanksgiving I think back to all the things I'm thankful for.  This year I am so very grateful for my family, and roof over my head, the food on my table, and the ability to live life to the fullest.

Back To School Chic

So recently I have been spending time on different ways I can expand my blog to gain a larger viewing population. So I found this really cool site that you may or may not happen to know about called Polyvore. I took numerous times and hours just to create this one set while I continuously found little things I could keep added to my "set".

Though while creating this set came some sort of inspiration right.  Well I got the idea when I was out one day and this women was wearing this lose fitting, cream colored skull tunic with peach colored skinny/jeggings.  I loved her outfit so, right when I got home I dropped my things and surfed the web to find that top then though it would be great to make a outfit collage to share.

Back To School Chic

When creating this outfit I couldn't find the exact brand of clothes that I wanted.  So instead of some J Brand Denim Jeans I would just go with a pair of American Eagle colored skinnies and a pair of gold Toms for the shoes.  For the stud earrings and gold collar necklace you can find those about anywhere.

I hope you enjoyed my outfit collage, and I wouldn't mind reading what you think.  Or just share me some love and comment a  :).  Also what would you like to see in future posts?!?

Trend 101 // Ombre Phenomenon

I haven't done a blog post in quite a while because I have been out of town but, I have decided to blog about the Ombre phenomenon which has caught my wandering attention.  Most of the design/fashion blogs I’ve viewed lately are going gaga over the Ombre tone. From fashion to furniture and everything in between, the gradation is visible everywhere.

I'm currently on the hunt for anything ombre, but I’m looking forward to some DIY stuff that I can try also!

Have any ideas, questions, comments or just want to share the love write me in the comments below.  Also I would love to know what amazing Ombre things you have discovered?!

Best Dressed........

Absolutely in love with this neon scarf printed dress.  Right!  The sophisticated dress with a short hem line, puffy skirt and high collar to top it off.  Though it is the type of dress were you would have to have the perfect body in order for it to fit like a glove.  And with the perfect accessories like the neon fuchsia belt and bag you would most definitely be a show stopper.
Though my question is wear would you wear it?  I don’t know maybe it is one of those dress you just get because you loved it on the hanger at the store and you are just waiting for that perfect time to wear it.!?!

Though personally I would definitely rate her as best dressed of my week!!

Mani Mania // Olympic Inspired

Well as you all may know the Olympics are just days away and especially in London the moral and spirit is high. I too will be a viewer of the 2012 Olympics and support the American teams. Even though I feel like the trails were just yesterday. Further more to help boost your spirit as our Olympic members are in London this upcoming weekend I have below a nail design inspired by the Olympics that I also did on my nails. Anyone can do this design by applying the color of our flag and simple desgin on the thumb and pinky finger and adding the medals. Fun right!!

To make it even easier Butter London has come out with a commemorative set of lacquer inspired by the Olympic medals.  Also Sephora by O.P.I. has created a nail polish inspired by the Olympic Games.

So I would love to see what Olympic Inspired nail designs that you have tried for the games from all over the world.  Or just share the love and comment, like or subscribe for more to come!!

Beauty Tips & Tricks // Coconut Oil

You can get it at any good health food store or in the cooking oil section of your grocery store.  It's white on the inside but tan on the outside. Yet it also tastes delicious in it's many forms, and isn't a budget buster.

Yes I'm talking about Coconut Oil.....

Coconut oil is considered a saturated fat, though since it is natural it's good for your health.  Unlike most saturated fats which are manipulated into the saturated form through a process called hydrogenation.

Coconut Oil is rich, it’s cheap, it’s versatile, it’s antimicrobial, antifungal, and antibacterial, and has a decent amount of antioxidants.  So with that said there are many beauty uses that are great, but I'm sharing my top 4:

1) To shave my legs.  You get a real close shave and moisturized and smooth legs after.

2) To take off my eye makeup. Put a little on a cotton square and sweep it over your eyes gently. It even works on waterproof mascara!

3)As a deep-conditioning hair treatment. I use Vatika coconut hair oil. I apply it to may hair before I wash it and let it set for about 2 hours. Then wash as usual.  It leaves my hair feeling soft, silky, longer after time and helps with dry scalp.

4)As a body moisturizer. Great to apply all over for dry, cracked skin to leave the skin very soft!  But careful if oily skin it's what your are going for.

Hope you learned alot, though also let me know what coconut oil tricks you've tried!!
